Youth & Junior Sailing

Every summer LWSC provides eight weeks of youth camp

and advanced sailor/race training for junior sailors

Learn-to-Sail Camp:

This course teaches the basic sailing technique, terminology, and theory. It is designed for young children and those who have little or no sailing experience. The morning Learn-to-Sail classes are scheduled from 9:00 to 12:00, Monday through Friday (except 4th of July week). Your child can sign up for one session or continue sailing for the whole summer!

Junior High Performance Sailing Clinics:

The JHPS clinics are for juniors who have two or more seasons of experience sailing and feel comfortable racing in close quarters against others. The participants work on racing skills such as tuning, starting, tactics, and advanced boat-handling in single and double handed boats. The Racing Clinics are held on Monday and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00pm. This clinic is held for nine weeks during the summer (except 4th of July week) and the clinic can be repeated as many times as desired. Each weekly clinic costs $50 per person. Registration is available on the calendar page.

Youth Racing:

The Lake Washington High School Racing Team is for high school and middle-high students who want to improve their sailing skills and compete against other local schools with registered teams, including McClatchy, Kennedy, Davis High School, Jesuit High School, Rio Americano High School, Christian Brothers High School, and more.

Students train together on CFJ's and other boats, rotating crew and skipper positions to enhance team dynamics. LWSC racers can compete in Bay Area regattas sponsored by the Pacific Interscholastic Sailing Association and BAYS, the Bay Area Youth Sailing organization.

Junior Racing fosters teamwork and leadership skills, sailors are supported in efforts to start an official sailing club at their school - recruiting members, training new sailors on safety and club logistics, holding meetings, and scheduling special events. The club provides boats and materials for student sailors and sponsors individual school team open houses at the lake.

Davis Sailing Team

Davis Sailing Team is a nonprofit student-run organization at UC Davis dedicated to teaching and perfecting the art of dinghy sailing. They sail competitively in the Pacific Coast conference within the greater Inter-collegiate Sailing Association and travel up and down the west coast competing in regattas. They are an eclectic group of students brought together by the passion to learn and practice boat handling and maintenance, sailing tactics, racing rules, and camaraderie. The team practices regularly on the weekends during fall, winter, and spring quarters.

If you see them around the docks, please introduce yourself and meet the team, otherwise you can find them online at davissailingteam.com, on Facebook or email them at davissailingteam@gmail.com
